Minimum session policy
Minimum sessions policy
We are committed to providing high-quality, consistent early years education that supports every child's wellbeing, development and sense of security. To ensure that children benefit fully from our curriculum and settle confidently into routines, we operate a minimum session policy. This policy applies to all families accessing our provision.
Minimum Session Requirements (Current)
Children Aged Under 3 (Two-Year-Olds)
- A minimum of 2 sessions per week, taken over 2 separate days.
- This ensures regular attendance, helping younger children develop secure attachments and familiarity with our environment and routines.
Children Aged 3 and 4
- A minimum of 3 sessions per week, taken over 2 separate days.
- Increasing attendance boosts school readiness, supports social development and enables children to fully engage with our curriculum.
Friday Sessions
- Fridays are offered as an additional optional day.
- Friday sessions cannot count towards the minimum session requirement.
- This is due to the unique structure and rhythm of our Friday provision.
Changes Effective from September 2026
From September 2026, our minimum session requirements will increase for each age range. This decision has been made following careful consideration of:
- Best practice guidance in early years education
- The developmental needs of young children
- Children’s need for consistency and secure routines
- Feedback from staff, families and external professionals
Full details of the updated requirements for each age group will be shared with families during the 2025–2026 academic year. These changes will ensure that all children receive the optimal level of participation and continuity to support their learning and wellbeing.
